Master Hypnotist Program

The Master Hypnotist Program is a two hundred hour, twenty-credit course. The course includes a total of one hundred fifty lecture hours, with the remaining fifty hours being obtained by the student through the completion of homework assignments and practical internship experience. The course is comprised of two classes: Basic Hypnosis and Master Hypnosis. Each class is a ten credit, one hundred hour course. The Basic Hypnosis course is designed to be taught over ten days, and the Master Hypnosis course is designed to be taught over ten days. Thus the student will complete the total program in nineteen days, or approximately one calendar month, as the class meets on Mondays through Fridays. Upon completion of the Master Hypnotist program, the student will have all of the knowledge and skills necessary to begin a career as a Master Hypnotist.

Class Description

Ki-Atsu Institute for Healing Art’s Basic Hypnosis class is a one hundred hour course that will teach the student hypnotic techniques, how to use hypnosis for behavior modification, such as weight loss, smoking cessation, and stress reduction. The course utilizes lecture, a manual, and hands on practice to provide the student with a complete understanding of hypnosis.

The course begins with an overview of the history of hypnosis and how the techniques and applications of hypnosis have evolved throughout the centuries. Students learn the names of some of the most widely known hypnotherapists in history, and what their contribution to the relationship between the conscious and subconscious mind, and how hypnosis effects both.

The course then teaches students the basic skills of hypnosis. The student will learn how to build rapport with a client, important questions to ask on the client’s intake form, the importance of a pre-induction talk to prepare the client for the hypnotic experience, and what the client might experience under hypnosis. The student will also learn about the dangers of hypnosis, how to avoid potential problems, and how to handle problems if they do arise. Suggestibility testing and determining the client’s level of response to hypnosis is also covered. Students are taught several suggestibility tests, and practice performing these tests upon other members of the class.

The course then instructs the student on the actual process of inducing hypnosis in a client. The student will learn how the voice is used during a hypnosis session, how to modulate the voice and how to pace the rate of speech. Hypnotic induction methods are covered, and students will learn both slow and rapid inductions into the hypnotic trance, and how to determine which type of induction is appropriate for a given client. Students will then learn about the six stages of hypnotic depth and how to test the client to see how deeply the client is under hypnosis. Finally, the proper method of bringing a client out of hypnosis is covered. Upon completion of the lecture, the student will then experience being induced into a hypnotic trance and will have the opportunity to practice inducing hypnosis in other members of the class, and testing the depth level.

After the student has mastered the ability to induce the hypnotic trance, the course then instructs the student in how to write a hypnotic prescription to help a client achieve behavior modification. The student will learn the importance of using imagery and metaphors in the hypnotic prescription, the type of language to use and thy type of language to avoid during the delivering of a prescription, the importance of keeping the prescription within the belief system of the client, and the importance of utilizing post-hypnotic suggestion to reinforce the session. The student will have the opportunity to practice writing prescriptions for selected problems.

Students will participate in practical class exercises to practice each of the steps in the hypnotic process. The student will participate in exercises in both the role of client and hypnotist. The student will practice performing a client intake, building rapport, and based upon the information obtained in the intake, develop a hypnotic prescription. The student will then induce hypnosis in the client and deliver the hypnotic prescription and any post-hypnotic suggestions that may be appropriate. The client will then be out of hypnosis. The instructor will then critique the student, and suggestions to conduct more effective sessions will be given.

The course will then cover the three most common behavior modifications that hypnosis is utilized for, smoking cessation, weight loss, and stress reduction. Each of these behaviors is examined individually. The student will learn about assessment tools that are available to help both the client and the hypnotist examine the client’s behavior and determine effective strategies for modifying the behavior. The student will also learn techniques for inducing self-hypnosis, and how to teach self-hypnotic skill to clients to reinforce the session with the hypnotist.

Class Description

The Ki-Atsu Master Hypnosis class is the advanced level class in the Master Hypnotist program. Students must have completed the basic level course in order to take this course. The course is designed to provide the student with a deeper understanding of the skills they acquired in the basic level course. Provide a more in-depth understanding into human behavior and the motivating factors for behavior and to examine the role of hypnosis in a wide variety of applications. This course utilizes lecture, a manual, and practical applications to instruct the student. Practical and written examinations must be successfully completed for the student to pass the course.

The course begins by taking several of the concepts learned in the first course, and providing a more in depth discussion of them. The student will learn more about the subconscious mind and how the subconscious mind functions in the producing of behavior. The laws of suggestions are presented to give the student and increased understanding of the effects that suggestions have upon a client and what type of suggestions will work best in a particular client. The student will then learn about conducting Behavioral assessments . The course will cover the basic and motivating factors for human behavior. The students will learn how to examine a client’s behavior and distill the behavior down through motivating factors to determine the cause of the behavior and what factors the client associates that behavior with. The student will practice conducting behavioral assessments to develop competency.

The class will the present the student with advanced hypnosis techniques such as the use of anecdotes and storytelling during a hypnosis session, advanced techniques in using influential language, anchoring and collapsing anchors, adding resources, and sub modality changes. The students will learn how to incorporate each of these techniques into a session, and when the use of each technique would be appropriate. The class will then present the use of hypnosis in relieving allergies. The course explores the relationship of allergies to past traumas, and how the release of these traumas can alleviate allergy symptoms.

The class also instructs the student on how to utilize techniques such as parts therapy, age and past life regression and grief release to assist a client in achieving his or her goals. The class will present how past events can create patterns or beliefs in the client, and how the utilization of techniques to release the pain or trauma from these past events, or changing the perception of the past event can result in behavior modification for the client.

The class will also provide the student in training on how to use the technique of the Circle of Excellence to assist a client in achieving a resourceful state to address problems or to face challenges that may occur in daily life. The course will also address using the Swish pattern to aid a client in modifying behavior. The course will also present the special considerations involved in dealing with and performing hypnosis sessions on children. The student will learn specific techniques to use when inducing hypnosis in children, and special techniques for script writing, as well a providing a safe environment for conducting the session.

The course will also teach the student techniques to utilize if a client is unable to speak during hypnosis, but the hypnotist needs to have a line of communication with the client. The student will learn how to have a client perform ideomotor signaling, and automatic writing, which will allow the hypnotist to gain information from the client, even if the client can not speak. Finally, the course reviews the ethics involved in the practice of hypnosis, to provide the student with an expectation of what behavior should be practiced and avoided in the conducting of an ethical hypnosis practice.
